I would like to enable others to download the data from my IdeaScale site in a structured format - How can I do this?
We've added in a feature to export the data into XML (RSS 2.0) format. You (as the administrator) of an IdeaScale community can generate a download file. If you want others to access the download file, you MUST check the box : "Enable API Access to XML File" If your community is an Internal one, this option will not be available.
See Screenshot below:
OK - I got the XML file - but how can I let others get it?
In your community site there will be a link at the bottom (footer) to "Developers" - from there, users can request access to download the file that you generated (under the heading "Bulk Data Download"): See screenshot below:
This gives everyone access to my data - is that OK?
Well - It depends. If you are creating a public site - everyone already has access to all the data (via HTML) - this model simply delivers the data in a more structured and organized way. The current RSS/XML data does not contain the Email's or IP address of the authors - Can I get that?
No - Due to privacy considerations we will not enable that. As an administrator, you can however download the data into Excel and get access to all that data. The current RSS/XML data does not contain comments - Can I get that?
At this point we've only exposed out the Core Idea data in XML - We plan on enabling the comments via XML also in the near future. I have generated the XML download file by mistake - I do NOT want users to access the XML file - can I remove the file?
Yes - Please delete the file that got generated under "Download Center" |
